The organization’s new brand and strategic vision follows a multi-year engagement process with local stakeholders. It is one of several Vance has led during his career, which includes branding and strategic planning for Portage Public Schools and the Upjohn Company at the time of its merger with Pharmacia.

Using the Foundation’s experience as a case study, Vance will share best practices and lessons learned. He’ll also share a list of essential steps in the rebranding process. Businesses and other nonprofits will gain insight into bringing stakeholder input into their own strategic efforts.

He has been director of marketing communications at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation for the past three years. Previously, he was community relations manager at Portage Schools for 12 years, responsible for external and internal information. Tom spent two years at Biggs Gilmore Communications (now VML) following ten years at The Upjohn Company where he worked in community relations and later, in product PR with Pharmacia & Upjohn.
